Songs I like hearing these days

There are songs that I can listen to everyday. I think my taste in music at this point in my life has become strange. I am the only 23 year old I know that listens to classical music.

I was listening to some old songs and I can’t believe I digged Spice Girls songs back in my High School days (how times fly, I am now 23). Now I hardly listen to anything that sound that way. And I’d see videos by The Backstreet Boys and I now wonder what was so cool about that. I try to listen to them now and I can’t bear it. I don’t even listen to R&B except maybe Alicia Keys music before she became mainstream. But the 90s has really great bands and I love them. Like the Cranberries, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead. I love Creep, the anthem of misfits out there. How I wish I was special.

By the way, how come some people don’t appreciate songs until everybody starts liking them. I remember listening to Evanescence’s My Immortal before everybody started liking it. I said to one of my classmates how much I loved the song, she said “ayoko nun, nakakaantok,” one week later, she starts loving it.

It’s odd that I listen to Classical Music, wala sa hitsura ko and it’s not something I am an expert of. And don’t ask me for titles, I can’t remember much of them. Basta lokong-loko ako sa music ni Bach. May CD ako sa bahay na pinatutugtog ako.

Back to the songs that I never get tired of hearing. Mono’s Life in Mono. I loved it the first time I heard it and I still love it today. The past month, I have been listening to the song everyday when I am on the computer.

Is it only me that gets turned on with this one:

This, I think, is the only video I know that makes me feel like a pervert. Two cute girls (I love the brunette) wearing school uniforms soaking wet in the rain and kissing. I don’t know if it is due to heavy exposure to Japanese anime with the nymphets in uniforms or maybe I just need therapy. It’s actually a great song. But I can’t get over the video.

And the Cranberries’s Ode to my Family.
That doo-doot-doot sound jsut gets to me all the time.
I do listen to modern music like, uh, Coldplay! At nakikinig rin ako ng tagalog tulad ng Apo Hiking Society, naghahanap nga ako ng T-shirt na may larawan nila.

Hanggang dito na muna parang bigla akong napagod.

Everybody loved the Spice Girls back then. “Everybody”, meaning “our” generation, kids who were still young and innocent way back in the 90′s. And well, because everyone has to start somewhere… or something like that. Ok I’m not making sense.

For some reason, I never really liked boybands. Girlbands are fine as long as they’re hot. :-)

Hands down, Alica Keys is the bomb. I owe my piano playing to her music.

You don’t listen to R&B? You’re missing half of your life. :-)

“Ava Adore” and “The End Is The Beginning Is The End” are my fave SP songs. And dontcha just lurve D’arcy? Too bad they disbanded. But I heard they’re gonna reconnect and do a major comeback.

Cranberries! “Linger” and “Animal Instinct” (teardrop for the heart-wrenching video) are my picks. Dolores’ yodeling rox my sox.

Radiohead. Creep, of course. And their song called “Just”. The video still gives me the wiggins.

I’m no fan of classical music. But I appreciate them. :-)

TATU, huh? Where the hell are they?

    Coldplay? Ugh. They’re so emo.

    OPM. Getting better everyday.

Sheesh. Sorry for the long comment. Kthnxbye.

i think opm music are definitely going extremely well… especially mga banda ngayon, i could hear them na paulit ulit na di nagsasawa…

ang apo music transcends with time you wouldn’t notice they’re from a whole lot different decade… i have always loved their music…

i think i have to say i also don’t get too attached with rnb… i just don’t know din… gusto ko makinig ng rnb kasi in na in but i just can’t love the stuff…

yung coldplay, the best yung musicality nun… if you’re going to listen to their songs carefully, you’d find out there’s always a balance with the music, accompaniment and vocals… unlike sa ibang band, minsang nasasapawan ng accompaniment yung vocals or otherwise…

    cranberries’ one of the greats!

Talamasca: It was crazy during the Spce Girls were in… I remember a lot of merchandise coming out. Ava adore, yes it’s good, also like 1979.
    - Got no Idea what happened with TATU, but I still love that one song.

gbert: yes, apo is good, I think they bring a nostalgic feeling in their songs that’s not trying too hard, I just think that OPM today sounds very much alike (most of them anyway) but I am happy that there are some who try creating different sounds. Ah yes, I agree about what you say about Coldplay, I thoughtt I am tired of their songs, then I hear the opening tunes and the magic starts again. Hehehe.
